Hymn: “Come, O Fount of Every Blessing”  (Songbook Binder 102)

1 Come, thou Fount of every blessing;
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above;
praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
mount of God’s unchanging love!

2 Here I raise my Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I’m come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

3 O to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart; O take and seal it;
seal it for thy courts above.

Glory to God: the Presbyterian Hymnal (2003)

Invitation to Worship

One: In this season of Lent, Jesus challenges us to fulfill God’s law.

All:   So we must put aside our anger and be reconciled to one another.

One: The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul;

All:   So we must let our “Yes” be Yes and our “No” be No.

One: The decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple;

All:   So we must turn the other cheek; go the second mile; give to anyone who asks.

One: The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;

All:   So we must love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.

One: God’s law is more desirable than gold and sweeter than honey.

All:   By it we are warned and in keeping it there is great reward. Thanks be to God.

Gathering Prayer: (in unison) God who blesses the least and the lost, we open our hearts to receive your healing love. As we worship together, may we hear your “still-speaking” voice all around us and within us. Make us humble and mature followers of Jesus, conformed to his image and walking in his way. We seek first your kingdom and righteousness and trust that you will meet our needs. We remember that we are blessed to be a blessing.  Amen.

Doxology: Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise God, all creatures here below.
Praise God above, you heavenly host:
Creator, Christ, and Holy Ghost.

Prayer of Dedication: (In unison)

O Faithful One, accept these gifts of our hearts and hands.
May they be multiplied and magnified as the living presence of Christ in the world. Amen.

Meditation Hymn:  “Take My Life and Let it Be” (Songbook Binder 256, Verses I & 3)

1 Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

3 Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

Hymn: “Be Thou My Vision” (Songbook Binder 253)

1 Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
be all else but naught to me, save that Thou art;
be Thou my best thought in the day and the night,
both waking and sleeping, Thy presence my light.

2 Be Thou my Wisdom, be Thou my true Word;
be Thou ever with me and I with Thee, Lord;
be Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son,
be Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

4 Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
be Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
be Thou and Thou only the first in my heart,
O High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

5 High King of heaven, Thou heaven’s bright Sun,
O grant me its joys, after vict’ry is won;
Great Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be Thou my Vision, O Ruler of all.
